Skyler & Josh’s day began at the beautiful Stables Event Center in Lafayette, Indiana. It was a warm sunny day and we had acres upon acres of beautiful land to photograph on. I was thrilled when I showed up to see this venue for the very first time!
Skyler got ready in the upstairs bridal suite with her bridesmaids while Josh and the groomsmen had a suite on the lower level of the barn. They opted for a first look along with a personal vow reading before the ceremony. Skyler also gifted Josh with a special gift honoring his late grandparents, a personalized pin that included a photo of them. You could see it in Josh’s eyes how much this meant to him for Skyler to have thought to give him something like this. Just made that first look moment even more special.
After first look, we got all bridal party photos completed pre-ceremony. Another reason why we love first looks so much, it makes photo time after the ceremony much less stressful because we can typically get all those photos done before!
Skyler & Josh had their ceremony inside the barn venue, due to the heat and just not wanting to melt! It was a beautiful ceremony, and even though Josh did see his bride during the first look prior to the ceremony, he still shed a tear as she walked down the aisle to him. This happens often and just proves that first looks do not take away from the “walking down the aisle magic!”
After the ceremony we were able to knock family portraits out and get the bridal party entered into the reception pretty quickly, thanks to doing a first look and saving all that time! The reception was full of delicious food, desserts, an open bar, lots of dancing and laughs. My favorite part was the father/daughter dance Skyler shared with her dad. They started out slow dancing then broke out into a fun dance together and it was just so fun to watch.
I’m also still gushing at how beautiful Skyler & Josh’s sunset portraits turned out towards the end of the evening! We got lucky with the perfect glowy sunset and GORGEOUS grounds to shoot on. Overall, I’d call it a successful wedding day and we are just so happy for Skyler & Josh becoming husband & wife!
